Custom Granite Kitchen Countertops for Ball Ground Homes

There's a nice irony in countertop shopping here: a century ago, Ball Ground finished marble for monuments. Atlanta Surface Masters carries that craft forward with granite, quartz, and marble countertops at a fair price.

Why Granite Is the Value Play

For most kitchens, granite offers the best value for the money. It’s natural stone, so every slab is one of a kind; it shrugs off heat, and it resists scratches better than softer surfaces. Installed pricing usually lands between $40 and $115 a square foot, which often comes in under premium quartz once you compare like-for-like. We keep a steady supply of granite slabs across colors and grades, value lines included, so affordable granite countertops are genuinely on the table, not a bait-and-switch. Want that high-end look without the splurge? Ask about our discounted granite colors and current remnants.

Granite, Marble, or Engineered?

Granite leads here, but it isn’t the only choice. Quartz is engineered and non-porous, so it never needs sealing, making it the low-maintenance favorite for busy families. Marble countertops bring that timeless veined look, a fitting echo of the town’s monument-carving past, though they ask for gentler care. We specialize in granite, and we fabricate marble and quartz too, all in our own shop, so you choose by look and lifestyle, not by what’s in stock. Not sure what suits your project? We’ll bring samples to your door and talk it through.

Serving Cherokee County and the North Georgia Foothills

Our fabrication shop sits in Cartersville, about 45 minutes from town, so we cover Cherokee County and the fast-growing communities around it with short lead times. We’ve worked in the historic homes near downtown, the newer builds in places like Heritage Plantation and River Rock, and the larger lots out toward Gibbs Gardens. As countertop contractors who measure, cut, and install with our own crew, we keep the whole project under one roof, with no subcontracted installers guessing at someone else’s template. Serving homeowners across metro Atlanta and the northern suburbs, we treat a small-town job with the same care as a big-city one. Call (404) 652-9787 to get started.

From Measure to Install

Four steps, and most jobs are finished in a single day on-site. We start with a consultation to walk through colors, budget, and materials. Then we use digital tools to template your space once you’ve chosen a slab. Fabrication happens at the Cartersville shop, where the team cuts, shapes, and polishes each piece. On install day, the old surface is removed, the new kitchen counters are installed, and the sink and faucet are reconnected before cleanup. Because one crew handles everything through countertop installation, nothing gets lost between vendors. Ready to begin? Request a free quote on the contact page.

08 / Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a granite slab usually cost?

A full granite slab runs roughly $40 to $115 per square foot installed, and a standard slab covers about 45 to 55 square feet. For the slab by itself, before fabrication and fitting, expect somewhere between $1,000 for an entry-level color and $3,000 or more for a rare, heavily figured one. A typical layout uses one to two slabs, which usually puts the finished total in the $2,500 to $6,000 range. We measure and price your exact space for free, so the number is real, not a guess.

What is Ball Ground, GA, famous for?

Quite a lot for a town of its size. It’s best known for Gibbs Gardens, one of the largest residential gardens in the country, just outside Ball Ground. The historic downtown, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, draws weekend crowds to its brick storefronts, shops, and restaurants. The name comes from Cherokee stickball, once played on these grounds. And fittingly for a countertop maker: a century ago, the town was a hub for finishing and carving marble hauled down from the nearby Tate quarry.

What is the least expensive stone slab?

Among natural choices, entry-level granite is usually the most affordable true stone, which is exactly why it delivers such value. Soapstone, marble, and quartzite generally cost more. If budget is a concern, we can point you to value-grade granite colors or current remnants that still look great and last for decades. Engineered surfaces have budget lines too, though they aren’t quarried. The cheapest route overall is laminate, but it won’t match the durability or resale appeal of the real thing.

Is Ball Ground, GA growing?

Yes, and fast. The population reached about 3,700 in 2026, up more than 50 percent since the 2020 census, with yearly growth near 6 percent. It sits on the northern edge of metro Atlanta in one of Georgia’s fastest-growing counties, Cherokee, and new neighborhoods keep rising while the historic core stays intact. That growth is part of why we stay busy in the area: plenty of new homes going in, plus older ones due for an update.
